• Q: What is a government grant?
  • A: In France the government offers all employees an annual grant to be spent on professional training. This professional training can include language tuition. Please contact us for further information.
• Q: How do I know if I have right to a government grant?
  • A: If you are working in France and registered on the French system then you could have right to a grant. Send us your URSSAF number and SIRET number and we can check for you.
• Q: How do I know what level I am?
  • A: Before you start lessons with LIT we will meet up with you to assess your level, language requirements, previous learning experiences etc.
• Q: Are the lessons like school?
  • A: No. We focus on making language learning enjoyable, so no boring drills or dictations. We use modern teaching techniques keeping you interested and involved via many different approaches.
• Q: Do we have to do written grammar exercises?
  • A: We try to avoid as this as much as possible and do not include any written grammar practice during valuable lesson time. Homework maybe set to practice topics introduced in lesson time.
• Q: I don't understand grammar, and never have, can I still learn French?
  • A: Yes! Although a basic understanding of grammar helps, it is by no means necessary. We use simple and easy to understand explanations with plenty of fun and interactive practice.
• Q: Is it possible to just concentrate on speaking and listening skills?
  • A: Yes. Due to demand most of our teaching is focused towards speaking and listening skills.
• Q: I'm scared of joining a group lesson.
  • A: There is no reason to be as everyone in the group will be in the same situation. However if the thought of joining a group is really that bad then we offer private lessons instead!
• Q: Are all the teachers qualified?
  • A: Yes. All LIT language teachers are qualified. They are also Government registered and approved in France for working with both adults and children and in the provision of government sponsored professional language training.
• Q: Do I have to do homework?
  • A: We recommend having homework set by your teacher as the more practice you get, the quicker you will learn. We cannot stress enough the importance of out of lesson practice as a valuable means of learning.
• Q: Do I have to buy books?
  • A: We usually recommend buying one course book at a cost of about 10 € but this is not compulsory and handouts are provided.
• Q: I already get by in French, why do I need to have lessons?
  • A: We can help you to improve your French further to enable you to live a fuller life here. We can provide lessons to work on specific areas such as increasing your vocabulary, teaching you slang, improving your listening, teaching you to deal with specific situations.
